Ammo Box, McKeever. Pouch with hinged front cover, two belt loops on back. Marked "US" on front in 1" high letters. Sides are flat. Brass rod forms hinge. Inside holds 20 cartridges. Inside of front seciton has remnants of paper glued on. Inspector mark of "T.V.S." on the back. Pouch for .45 cal (cartridges). "Johnston" inscribed inside top of pouch in ink. Color is black.

Colt Pocket Pistol - Revolver, SN 55479

Revolver, Pocket, 1849 Model, SN 55479, percussion. Five shot percussion revolver engraved by Wolf, serial numbers indicate that 1850 is the year of production. Plage brass trigger guard/back strap are engraved as well as barrel/receiver. Cylinder is roll press engraved while rest of pistol is engraved by hand. Pocket pistol-percussion revolver, engraved, and .31 cal with serial number 55479. Colt Pocket Pistols with this fine engraving are exemplary samples of early workmanship and of the engravers art. This is an excellent original specimen. Five inch barrel, 5 shot cylinder, brass triger guard and grip strap are silver plated.

Drum, 3rd Regiment, California Volunteers, Drum has 13 leather laces, laced with replacement hemp rope. Both heads are in place. Body is constructed of individual ribs covered with two rows of vaneer (thin), design: blue background, eagle in gold and brown facing right, holding an olive branch in right talan and an arrow in the left. Also holding a banner of red with white lettering that reads: 3 Regt Inft, Ca. Shield has 22 stars.

Painting, Oil, "Ft. Douglas Laid Out with a Codline, Axe and Ten Foot Pole 1862". Pictures of three soldiers in the foreground surveying the Ft. Douglas area. The background shows a wagon, mule team and driver and two soldiers holding a line and 10 foot pole. A 4 1/2" scratch is visible in the lower center. Materials masonite with a wood frame. In October 1862, Colonel Connor's command of California Volunteers established Camp Douglas in this painting, Fausett created an image of the soldiers laying out the parade field and lines for the quarters.

Howitzer, 1863, Spanish, rifle tube, 3 1/2" lands. Tub 36 3/4 LOA; 5 7/8 olive drab in color muzzle. Tapered tube widens behind reunions. Spanish crown/letter stamped into bronze and "NO 9329" at touch. Plub missing, date in same location. Rear carriage elevationscrew 35 1/4. Ten spoke wooden wheels, pins missing. Metal furniture on carriage. The Royal Cartouche on top of tube at the breech is that of Queen Isabella II (1833-1868). Reported to have been returned from action in the Philippine Insurrection by the 24th Infantry Division as a war trophy. Serial Number 9329

High collar with yellow trim and gold buttons. Size Chest 40, Waist 34. Has two fron pockets, there are shoulder tabs held with gold button and yellow trim.

Model 1841 Twelve Pounder Mountain Howitzer on Prairie Carriage. U.S. stamped on top of barrel between the trunnions. Left trunnion marked "1850" and right trunnion marked "C.A. & Co. // Boston" (for the barrel maker Cyrus Alger & Co.). Face of barrel marke don top with Army Registry Number "65" and below with muzzle inspector initials "JWR" (for James Wolf Ripley, inspector from 1832 to 1863). Barrel weight "216" stamped on the breech. Prairie carriage marked "U.S. Watervliet Arsenal" on front left and "1850" on front right. 42 inch diameter wheels.
