Description Painting, Oil, "Ft. Douglas Laid Out with a Codline, Axe and Ten Foot Pole 1862". Pictures of three soldiers in the foreground surveying the Ft. Douglas area. The background shows a wagon, mule team and driver and two soldiers holding a line and 10 foot pole. A 4 1/2" scratch is visible in the lower center. Materials masonite with a wood frame. In October 1862, Colonel Connor's command of California Volunteers established Camp Douglas in this painting, Fausett created an image of the soldiers laying out the parade field and lines for the quarters.
